Together We Create

My Project Process

Let’s Get Started On Your Writing Project!

We’ll get your message out to those who need to see it most. But first,

How Will We Communicate?

How to Contact Me
The best ways to get in touch with me are via phone or email. You can reach me at 626-775-7942 or Hope@FitWriterForHire.com. I’m available for calls Monday – Friday, 12:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Pacific time. I return missed calls and reply to emails within 24 hours during the work week.

How About You?
How often we communicate throughout the project is up to you. Please email me to let me know how often you’d like to check in and what the best way(s) is for me to reach you.

Are you working with a team?
Please provide me with the name and contact information of the team member(s) with whom I’ll be working.

Six Phases – From Discovery Call

To Your Finished Project

Phase 1 - Discovery Call

We’ll connect on a phone call or Zoom meeting to see if we’re a good fit for one another. To ensure that our conversation is productive, I’ll email you my Discovery Call Questionnaire to complete before we chat. During our meeting, I’ll listen carefully while you tell me about your company and project.

If we decide to work together, we’ll move into Phase 2.

Phase 2 - Proposal & Terms Of Agreement (TOA)

Now that you’ve decided I’m the writer for your project, we’ll set a date for me to present a project proposal to you via phone or Zoom. Here’s what you can expect during the proposal process:

The proposal will contain:

  • A list of deliverables
  • A firm project quote
  • Project start (The “Kickoff”) and end dates
  • A general timeline (project milestones), including a deadline for revisions

The proposal is where we get crystal clear about the scope of work needed for your project.
I’ll be happy to make any adjustments needed before the final sign-off.
When you accept and sign the proposal and TOA, I’ll ask you for a deposit of 50% of the total project cost.

Phase 3 - The Creative Brief or Site Audit

If you don’t have a Creative Brief, Site Audit (or a similar form) for your project, I’ll email you one. Whatever document we use will be my guide for your project.

When I receive the completed Creative Brief or Site Audit, we’ll meet again via a comprehensive phone (or Zoom) session (60-90 minutes) to review the document together. This is where I gain a deeper understanding of your product or service, brand, and project goals. We’ll nail down the details as much as possible before I start writing.

Phase 4 Project Kickoff

To Kickoff your project, in addition to the Creative Brief or Site Audit, there may be other materials needed before I begin writing. If so, I’ll ask you to email them to me. Here are examples of what you might provide to me for your project:

  • Research (any that is done on your side, in addition to research you’ve asked me to do)
  • Photos
  • Testimonials
  • Style Guide
  • Graphics

Once I have all the required materials – we have officially Kicked-off and the writing begins!

Phase 5 - First Draft & Subsequent Revisions

First Draft Review

Depending on the project requirements and size, you can expect to receive the first draft in 7-15 business days from the Kickoff date.

The first draft is where we make sure that tone, message, and offer are on target.

Additional Edits and Revisions

My proposal asks that all revisions be assigned to me within 30 days of you receiving the first draft of the copy. My turnaround time for minor revisions is 2-4 business days; major revisions may take longer.

All revisions must be within the original project scope to avoid accruing additional fees.

Phase 6 - The Finished Project

When you’re satisfied and we’ve finished with the revisions — I’ll send you the final version within 3-5 days.

You’ll approve the copy by sending me an email saying, “I approve the copy for [project],” with your email signature and you’ll be billed for the remainder of the balance due.

All invoices are due upon receipt.

POST Project Launch - What’s Next?

How about a complimentary follow-up consultation? Let’s do a copy checkup a few weeks out to see how the project is performing for you.
